At Soil Sunrise, we hand-blend each soil mixture to ensure you get quality every single time. This blend is a mixture of coco coir, pumice, and horticultural charcoal. This is a great blend for growing ferns, African violets, and other popular terrarium or fairy garden plants. With these ingredients, you get great drainage, nutrient retention, water retention, and harbor healthy b@cteria to break down toxins. TIP: For closed-top terrariums, plants should be compact, humidity-loving and low-light compatible. Good choices are mosses and ferns, as well as orchids, bromeliads and many other easy-to-find houseplants. Avoid plants that prefer bright light and low humidity such as cactuses, succulents and most herbs [though mint is okay] — this 2nd group of plants work well in an open-top terrarium. Our soil mix will work with either type of terrarium. INGREDIENTS: coconut coir, pumice, and horticultural charcoal.

Plant Propagation Potting Mix

This mixture provides a great starter mix for propagating plants. Use this sterile blend to ensure your cuttings end up happy and healthy and can thrive even after the initial rooting stage. This is a high drainage mixture of peat moss, perlite, worm castings, and a bit of lime for pH balance. Provide natural nutrition in a fast-draining environment, perfect for starting new plants from cuttings. TIP: Propagating cuttings can be done a few ways. While most cuttings can take root easily and effectively in a high drainage soil medium such as this one, some gardeners choose to start theirs in water or use a rooting hormone, and then transfer to soil. Both ways work, but using a soil such as this is important in both cases to ensure proper nutrition and provide high drainage to eliminate root rot. Coco Peat Perlite Potting Mix

Our coco coir is double washed to ensure the best coco “peat,” free of dust, foreign objects, or particles that make the coir "muddy" when wet. You can plant directly in this mix with no additional ingredients. It won't compact and allows root aeration and productive growth. It is pH Balanced to create an ideal growing environment for many types of potted plants indoor or outdoor. This mixture is blended with container gardening in mind. It works like a sponge retaining moisture while still allowing drainage. This type of potting medium works great for houseplants such as Crotons, Lemon Lime Dracaena, Golden Pothos, Lucky Bamboo, Snake Plants, “Herb” growing and Peace Lilies. This soilless mixture is composed of a special blend of chunky orchid bark and perlite. Both are wonderful for aeration to roots and provide a well draining environment for your orchids. Orchid Bark is good for holding water–not letting it drown your roots! Then the perlite helps create pockets for the excess water to be released. Ingredients: fir bark and perlite Tips: If repotting, we recommend using a container with several draining holes for best results.

Organic Orchid Potting Bark

Our pine tree bark is 100% organic material without any unnatural or synthetic additives. It is sourced and produced in the United States. We add a little bit of lime to properly control pH. This tree bark is perfect for using alone as bark for planting or re-potting your orchids as well as a soilless medium for creating your own orchid potting mix with other media such as charcoal, perlite, and more. Various pine and pine barks will work with varying degrees of success with orchids. However, for best results, we choose to use pine bark pieces from mature Loblolly and Southern Yellow Pine trees that will provide even chunks to provide enough aeration. However, they are not related to them. They originate from Central America. We wanted to make a blend of potting mix optimized for this unique plant. TIPS: Yellow or Yellowing Monstera leaves are a sign that your plant may not be getting enough air or water. If you are using a mix that doesn’t offer enough drainage, your plant will be sitting in water. In simple terms, it’s drowning! If you are using a mix that doesn’t hold enough water, your plants may not be able to take in the water they need. This can also cause yellow leaves. Brown spots are a symptom of root rot caused by overwatering. These spots may appear small and then enlarge and/or spread throughout the plant over time. Perlite has excellent drainage capabilities. Lime is used primarily for its ability to balance soil pH levels. Other Uses: This potting soil would also be suitable for Red Chinese Evergreen plants, Magenta Madagascar Dragon Tree plants, or ZZ plant. TIP: Birds of Paradise enjoy moist (but not soggy) soil, and being allowed to dry out slightly between waterings. Try not to let the soil dry completely through the pot, but also avoid overwatering. Lucky Bamboo Plant Potting Mix

Hoya Plant Potting Soil Mix

We hand blend this mixture to be specifically geared towards providing your exotic Hoya plants with the correct nutrients and growing environment. This mixture is a blend of peat moss, perlite, horticultural charcoal, mulch, worm castings, and lime - making it the perfect combination for the plants also known as sweetheart or rope plants. Most Hoya are epiphytic and are used to having rich matter fall on them from above. Because they are epiphytes just like orchids and need excellent drainage, the mulch is an ideal additive. TIP: Like other succulents, hoya plants don’t respond well to soggy roots. Water only when the top few inches of soil are dried out. Make sure you use a pot with good drainage holes. The Desert Rose is native to the arid desert of Africa and the Middle East. It has become a popular “bonsai” houseplant. These plants require a special watering schedule as they are used to a long dry period and then brief heavy rains in their native habitat. This custom soilless medium provides a heavy dose of perlite along with added sand for excellent drainage capabilities. Coco coir and peat moss are also included so it is rich with organic matter tool. This helps with water and nutrient retention.
