Premium Aroid Indoor Houseplant Potting Soil Mix

Give your aroids a potting mix made specifically for their growing needs! Whether you're potting a new plant, moving a root-bound aroid into a larger container, or replacing old, compacted growing media, Soil Sunrise Aroid Plant Potting Soil Mix combines quality ingredients in a convenient, ready-to-use blend for container-grown aroid plants.

Specially formulated for popular aroids such as Monstera, Philodendron, Anthurium, Alocasia, and Pothos, this blend combines coco coir and pine mulch with perlite and horticultural charcoal to support drainage, aeration, and balanced moisture retention. Natural worm castings add an organic component to the blend, creating a ready-to-use indoor houseplant potting mix straight from the bag.

Key Benefits:

  • Plant-Specific Formula: Specifically formulated for Monstera, Philodendron, Anthurium, Alocasia, Pothos, and other container-grown aroid plants.
  • Balanced Drainage & Moisture: Coco coir helps retain useful moisture, while pine mulch, perlite, and horticultural charcoal help create air space and support drainage throughout the mix.
  • Pre-Blended & Ready to Use: Use this aroid potting soil straight from the bag with no need to purchase, measure, or mix several separate soil components.
  • Quality Ingredients: Contains horticultural charcoal, coco coir, perlite, pine mulch, and worm castings.

How Much Aroid Potting Soil Do I Need?

Choose the bag size that best fits your aroid repotting project. The actual amount needed will vary depending on container size, root-ball size, and how much existing media is removed.

8 qt: Ideal for a medium to large aroid repotting project or multiple smaller houseplants

Why This Aroid Soil Blend Works:

Coco Coir: Help retain useful moisture while contributing organic material and lightweight structure to the growing medium.
Pine Mulch & Horticultural Perlite: Adds organic structure while helping create air space throughout the mix while supporting drainage and root aeration.
Horticultural Charcoal: Adds porous material that contributes to the mix's overall structure and aeration.
Worm Castings: Adds a natural organic component to the blend.

Why Choose Soil Sunrise Aroid Potting Soil?

Soil Sunrise Aroid Potting Soil Mix takes the guesswork out of choosing and preparing the right growing medium for your favorite aroids. 1. Choose the Right Container
Select a clean container with adequate drainage holes and enough room for the plant’s root system.

2. Add Potting Mix
Place a layer of potting mix in the bottom of the container, adding enough so the plant will sit at the proper height.

3. Position the Plant
Gently remove the plant from its existing container, loosen compacted roots if needed, and place it in the center of the new container.

4. Fill Around the Roots
Add additional potting mix around the root ball, filling the container while leaving a small amount of space below the rim. Gently settle the mix without packing it too tightly.

5. Water & Allow to Drain
Water thoroughly after potting and allow excess water to drain completely. Continue caring for the plant according to its specific watering, light, and growing requirements.

Worst soil I've encountered. Do not buy. It is cometely hydrophobic and will not absorb water. Very small particle size and not as chunky in texture as the photos made it look.

I’ve had good success with this mix, however it does hold onto moisture a bit more than I had thought, resulting in root rot in a few of my less expensive plants (Scindapsus pictus 'Exotica' and a few other pothos) it is chunky it’s just very dense so I’m not sure if it was the mix or just me. It was a good size for the price, seems to drain but does really hold moisture. Fruit gnats LOVE this mix. Just a warning. It’s easy to use, sure, and the contents have a good mix of quality materials. Just make sure to keep up with bug control and don’t overwater, it’s more moisturized than you think!

This is a decent starter soil for newer plant hobbyists such as myself. Honestly not quite as chunky as I'd like, now that my plants have had time with it and I've seen others. I just added a bit more perlite to it as well as other substrate.Something I do with this that I love is I add it to regular potting mix for the plants that don't need chunky bc it seems the average potting mix is still too dense for most of my plants. This has become a staple for almost all of my plants, to some extent.Overall I could see buying it again.

I’ve bought a couple bags of this soil now and all of my plants love it. It is not as chunky as previous brands I’ve used, BUT it is light and airy with great drainage. I have a moisture meter and my plants never read too wet with this soil mix. As for the smell! That is known as hydrogen sulfide. It happens when soil becomes wet and has no drainage or air flow. This is pretty normal and not harmful to your plants unless in high concentrations (some people will treat their gardens with low levels of hydrogen sulfide because it actually has some benefits for the plants). As soon as you open the bag and oxygen hits the soil it will start to kill off the bacteria that creates the smell. So don’t stress! It’s not bad soil! I plan on continuing to use this potting mix for all of my house plants.

For my mom's ZZ plants that decided to blow up in size this year. It worked good and plant seems to be doing well. No bugs or mushrooms or mold. Good for Aroid plants. A little expensive but it's online and it's made for a specific plant species.

Enjoyed the ratings and tried the bag and it did not disappoint. New to being a green thumb parent and wanted a lighter soil for the plants and this bag of soil solved my problem. I like the texture and smell of this soil -its clean with no gnats and that is important when shopping for soil. Would buy again and again.
