Avocado Tree Potting Soil Mix

Our mix is hand-blended soil for planting and growing avocado trees. It is fast draining to encourage growth without root rot or mold. Avocado trees prefer their soil to drain completely and quickly between waterings. The ingredients each serve a purpose. Peat moss is great for water and nutrient retention in soil. It is also a good source of organic matter that will slowly degrade to feed your soil. Perlite is often used as a soil amendment for its water retention and drainage capabilities. It also provides air flow to roots to prevent root rot. Sand's purpose in gardening is providing extra drainage in soil. Lime is used to balance pH in soil. TIPS: Make sure your soil is not compacted and that your pot has good drainage. Water frequently with an occasional deep soak. Keep the plant moist but not overly saturated. As with most plants, make sure the soil drains well. Pinch the stem back every time your plant grows another six inches or so, in order to encourage a bushier appearance. Banana Tree Potting Soil Mix

Banana trees have special requirements for container gardening. Banana plants love it for their soil to be nutritious yet drain quickly. Soggy soil will rapidly kill your banana plant. We utilize peat moss as a base. Then we add additional perlite, sand, fir bark, and lime to create a loose well draining soil that will stay a bit moist but will not hold water and cause root rot or plant death. Worm castings act as a natural compost and create a richer soil.TIP: Whether inside or out, potted bananas need full sun, with six to eight hours of direct sunlight each day. They also need lots of water to keep their large leaves well hydrated. Check the soil in your container frequently, especially in hot summer temperatures and if the plant is indoors where humidity might be low.Ingredients: Peat moss, perlite, worm castings, sand, pine bark, and lime.

Carnivorous Plant Food Dried Mealworms

PLEASE READ THE TIPS BEFORE FEEDING THE WORMS TO YOUR PLANTS. Carnivorous plants use insects to supplement their diet because all the nutrients they need are not found in the soil. If your carnivorous plant is indoors, it is not always easy to ensure live insects indoors. Dried mealworms are a perfect, no mess alternative for feeding your carnivorous plants. Please refer to the instructions below to properly feed your plant. NOTE: These mealworms can also be fed to pet hedgehogs, birds, fish, squirrels, mice, snakes, chickens, and some reptiles. Please research your pets' dietary requirements before offering new foods. Tips: Freeze-dried mealworms make feeding your plants much easier. You may find that feeding a Venus flytrap a dead mealworm is difficult. The following are some tips from the pros on how to do this correctly: Rehydrate freeze-dried mealworms with a drop or two of water A mealworm 1/3 the size of the trap is all that is needed. (If the worm is too large, the trap will die) After placing the mealworm gently in the trap, use tongs or a skewer to gently stimulate the hairs inside. Make sure that the trap can close and seal completely You can use your fingers to help seal the trap [very gently] after it is closed. If it does not seal, it will open again after 24 hours without having digested the worm. One feeding per week is often enough to keep your Venus flytrap healthy. If you have a larger plant, such as a pitcher plant, you may need to feed more often.
