Premium Elephant Ear Indoor Houseplant Potting Soil Mix

Give your Elephant Ear a potting mix made specifically for its growing needs! Whether you're potting a new plant, moving a root-bound Elephant Ear into a larger container, or replacing old, compacted growing media, Soil Sunrise Elephant Ear Potting Soil Mix combines quality ingredients in a convenient, ready-to-use blend for container-grown Elephant Ear plants.

Specially formulated for Elephant Ears that appreciate consistent moisture along with good root aeration, this blend combines moisture-retaining peat moss with horticultural perlite and sand to support drainage, aeration, and a healthy root environment. Natural worm castings add an organic component to the blend, while lime helps adjust pH as part of the formulation, creating a ready-to-use potting mix straight from the bag.

Key Benefits:

  • Plant-Specific Formula: Specifically formulated for container-grown Elephant Ear plants and their unique growing needs.
  • Balanced Drainage & Moisture: Peat moss helps retain useful moisture, while horticultural perlite and sand help create air space and support drainage throughout the mix.
  • Pre-Blended & Ready to Use: Use this Elephant Ear potting soil straight from the bag with no need to purchase, measure, or mix several separate soil components.
  • Quality Ingredients: Contains peat moss, sand, worm castings, horticultural perlite, and lime.

How Much Elephant Ear Potting Soil Do I Need?

Choose the bag size that best fits your Elephant Ear potting or repotting project. The actual amount needed will vary depending on container size, root-ball size, and how much existing media is removed.

8 qt: Ideal for a medium Elephant Ear repotting project, a larger container, or multiple smaller plants.

Why This Elephant Ear Soil Blend Works:

Peat Moss: Help retain useful moisture while contributing organic material and lightweight structure to the growing medium.
Horticultural Perlite: Adds organic structure while helping create air space throughout the mix while supporting drainage and root aeration.
Coarse Sand: Adds texture and contributes to drainage throughout the potting mix.
Worm Castings: Add a natural organic component to the blend
Lime: Helps adjust pH as part of the overall formulation.

Why Choose Soil Sunrise Elephant Ear Potting Soil?

Soil Sunrise Elephant Ear Potting Soil Mix takes the guesswork out of choosing and preparing a growing medium for container-grown Elephant Ear plants. This plant-specific, ready-to-use blend combines moisture-retaining peat moss with porous and coarse materials that support drainage, aeration, and a balanced root environment—without the need to purchase and mix multiple soil components yourself.

1. Choose the Right Container
Select a clean container with adequate drainage holes and enough room for the plant’s root system.

2. Add Potting Mix
Place a layer of potting mix in the bottom of the container, adding enough so the plant will sit at the proper height.

3. Position the Plant
Gently remove the plant from its existing container, loosen compacted roots if needed, and place it in the center of the new container.

4. Fill Around the Roots
Add additional potting mix around the root ball, filling the container while leaving a small amount of space below the rim. Gently settle the mix without packing it too tightly.

5. Water & Allow to Drain
Water thoroughly after potting and allow excess water to drain completely. Continue caring for the plant according to its specific watering, light, and growing requirements.

So far it's really holding on to the water. I will update this review if I see improvement but as it stands right now I'm afraid of getting root rot. When. I first posted the plant it took a lot to get the spoil to actually take the water then it was like mud for the next two days when other soil would have still be wet but not mud. I also expected it to be a bit chunkier.

I absolutely LOVE this soil for my colocasia and alocasia- and they love it too! I was struggling getting these type of plants to thrive. Any time they would grow any more than toe leaves, a leaf would start to die! I have mostly philodendron and monsteras, and they need nicely aerated soil, but the colocasia and alocasia need something entirely different. I decided to try this soil out and WOW! The plants responded sooooo well to it! It seriously retains moisture, which is absolutely necessary for these types of plants to do well. Immediately after repotting the 7 or 8 I have into this soil, every single plant started pushing out a new leaf!! Shortly after reporting them into this soil I also started fertilizing them with a nitrogen rich fertilizer and they were even happier! I highly recommend combining this soil with a nitrogen rich fertilizer like the Alaska fish fertilizer- your plants will thank you!! I will never buy another soil for these types of plants. I’m so happy I got this stuff! It’s fantastic!

I haven't used the soil yet to determine if it's good or not but the packaging is nice. The bags I ordered are 8 quartz so be mindful of that.If you have 14 inch pots like I do for your precious elephant ears youd need to either mix this soil with a bigger bag of soil or buy at least 8 to 10 bags to fill up a 14 inch pot. The size is no fault of the seller. I wasn't paying attention to the amount of soil that came in each bag prior to purchasing. Shipping was on average and was delivered within a reasonable amount of days.

Bought this soil as a gift for a friend for her new alocasia’s and they are thriving! It seems to be the perfect mix/texture of soil for them. There were no pests/bugs in this soil. Moisture retention is perfect. She really like the weight and look of the soil.
