Premium Citrus Tree Indoor Houseplant Potting Soil Mix

Give your Citrus Tree a potting mix made specifically for its growing needs! Whether you're potting a new Citrus Tree, moving a root-bound plant into a larger container, or replacing old, compacted growing media, Soil Sunrise Citrus Tree Potting Soil Mix combines quality ingredients in a convenient, ready-to-use blend for container-grown Citrus Tree plants.

Specially designed for citrus varieties such as lemon, lime, orange, and other container-grown citrus trees, this blend combines moisture-retaining ingredients with peat moss, perlite, and coarse sand to support drainage, aeration, and a healthy root environment. Natural worm castings add an organic component to the blend, while lime helps balance the formulation, creating an indoor houseplant potting mix that’s ready to use straight from the bag.

Key Benefits:

  • Plant-Specific Formula: Specifically formulated for lemon, lime, orange, mandarin, tangerine, grapefruit, kumquat, calamondin, and other container-grown citrus trees, and their unique growing needs.
  • Balanced Drainage & Moisture: Peat moss helps retain moisture, while perlite and coarse sand help support drainage and aeration throughout the mix.
  • Pre-Blended & Ready to Use: Use this Citrus Tree potting soil straight from the bag with no need to purchase, measure, or mix several separate soil components.
  • Quality Ingredients: Contains peat moss, horticultural perlite, coarse sand, worm castings, and lime.

How Much Citrus Tree Potting Soil Do I Need?

Choose the bag size that best fits your Citrus Tree repotting project. The actual amount needed will vary depending on container size, root-ball size, and how much existing soil is removed.

4 qt: Small Citrus Tree repotting projects or several small containers
8 qt: Medium Citrus Tree repotting projects or multiple smaller plants
30 qt: Large Citrus Tree repotting projects or multiple smaller plants

Why This Citrus Tree Soil Blend Works:

Peat Moss: Help retain useful moisture while contributing organic material and structure to the growing medium.
Horticultural Perlite & Coarse Sand: Help create air space throughout the mix while supporting drainage and root aeration.
Worm Castings: Add a natural organic component to the blend.
Lime: Helps adjust pH as part of the overall formulation.

1. Choose the Right Container
Select a clean container with adequate drainage holes and enough room for the plant’s root system.

2. Add Potting Mix
Place a layer of potting mix in the bottom of the container, adding enough so the plant will sit at the proper height.

3. Position the Plant
Gently remove the plant from its existing container, loosen compacted roots if needed, and place it in the center of the new container.

4. Fill Around the Roots
Add additional potting mix around the root ball, filling the container while leaving a small amount of space below the rim. Gently settle the mix without packing it too tightly.

5. Water & Allow to Drain
Water thoroughly after potting and allow excess water to drain completely. Continue caring for the plant according to its specific watering, light, and growing requirements.

The soil is nice, but it’s not what I expected. In the picture, there are large pieces of perlite, I don’t see that in my mix. It’s very light, but I don’t know if it has everything it’s supposed to have and if it will stay air rated and let water drain like it should. It has great reviews so I’m hoping I’ll have good results. I plan today 3 gallon kumquat so I’ll see how it does in the soil.

The soil looks rich and it will grow healthy citrus trees. The downside is that the bag inside the box isn’t sealed so when I opened it, it spilled all over the floor. I’m growing small trees on my apartment patio so they’re in pots. I made the mistake of opening it in my living room.

This does NOT do a great job of getting scale off your drinking glasses if you put it in the dishwasher, or soak the glasses in even a concentrated solution of it. I also doubt it would work on your metal coffeepot or coffeemaker. BUT...sometimes your houseplants or garden plants need some acid, and this is good stuff to use in moderation.

Good quality mix. Price seems fair for the amount in the box. Even though the plastic bag is not sealed, very little spilled into the box. Pleased with the purchase. So far my small guava tree looks like it is happy with its feet in the mix

Total transformation of my Meyer Lemon Tree! I bought a small tree a few months back. It bloomed profusely (until strong Oklahoma winds blew them off), but leaves were very, very sparse. I repotted it with this citrus potting mix and every branch now has new leaf growth! It looks so much healthier!!

So far so good. Wish packaging was a little more convenient, not a box with a big plastic bag i.e. a large resealable bag would be perfect. Also a little pricy, but ok

My potted lemon tree dropped all of its leaves due to a terrible fungus gnats infestation. I had previously replanted with miracle grow citrus soil and it was not draining well at all. When I dumped the soil, it was near mud in the bottom half. I had not even watered it in at least a month because it looked damp. I am happy to report after washing it's roots and repotting using Soil Sunrise potting mix, it has been saved. There is new growth after just a month. Both my lemon tree and I are very happy. It is worth the price.

Perfect soil for our lime tree! Holds just the right moisture needed, and already the tree is growing and sprouting leaves. A little overpriced but I have no other complaints. I will be getting more as I plan on having more citrus trees!
